Porcelain paving
Modern premium finish. Frost-proof, stain-proof, colour-stable for decades. Slim profile (20mm) — looks razor-sharp. £140–£200/m² installed. Our most-requested patio material.
Indian sandstone
The UK's volume favourite. Warm honey and grey tones, riven natural face, hand-cut appearance. £95–£140/m² installed. Great value, easy to maintain.
Limestone
Tighter, more uniform than sandstone. Blue-grey ("Kota") or black ("Kadappa") are most popular. £110–£150/m². Elegant, contemporary.
Block paving patios
Match your driveway for continuity. Full pattern options. £90–£130/m². Seamless indoor-outdoor flow if you're re-doing both.
Granite setts
Premium statement patio. Hard-wearing, distinctive, natural. £180–£250/m².
Proper patio installation — the non-negotiables
- Excavate to 200mm — yes, even for a patio.
- 150mm MOT Type 1, compacted in layers.
- Falls away from house — 1:80 minimum (12.5mm per metre). Stops damp ingress.
- Full mortar bed — every slab bedded on fresh wet mortar. No "dot-and-dab" short cuts.
- Polymeric jointing — modern flexible compound, won't crack out in winter.
- Sealing (optional) — stain-resistant finish on natural stone.
The dot-and-dab patio — avoid.
"Dot-and-dab" is where the installer puts five blobs of mortar under each slab instead of a full bed. Faster. Cheaper. Slabs rock within a year, crack within three. Any quote that saves on mortar is saving at your expense.
